If I can hear it, it’s slowing me down.
As an experienced time-triallist racing at national level, I knew how much difference aerodynamics could make. A skinsuit that fit perfectly saved watts — but pinning race numbers into delicate fabric created holes, flapping edges and wasted power. It was madness.
In 2013, I hit breaking point. There had to be a better way.
A clear solution
The idea was simple: a transparent pocket to hold your race number flat against the suit. The execution wasn’t.
It had to stretch with your body, hold firm through sweat and rain and reduce drag, not add it. One prototype became many, until over a year later the first Nopinz SpeedPocket was ready.
I raced it at the National Time Trial Championships and even the old-school RTTC crowd took notice. It worked. And it was fast.
From tunnel to tour
Encouraged by that success, I refined the design and took it into the wind tunnel. The new version performed better still — lower drag, smoother profile, measurable speed.
By 2015, Nopinz had grown from a Devon garage to the global stage, partnering with Team LottoNL-Jumbo and debuting at the Tour de France. A small British brand competing with cycling’s biggest names — and proving it belonged.
No limit to speed
The SpeedPocket was just the beginning. Once we saw the gains, we reimagined every detail of race apparel. Skinsuits, tri suits, socks, overshoes, bibs — all refined through wind-tunnel testing, real-world data and relentless innovation.
Every product shares the same DNA: marginal gains made real. Every watt matters. Every stitch has purpose.
What started as one person’s obsession grew into a team of designers, engineers and athletes united by a single mission — to make every rider faster.
